The TEF IRN (Integration Resident Nationality)

The TEF IRN is the official French language test recognised by the Ministry of the Interior for integration and naturalisation procedures in France. Linguaphone Mulhouse is an approved centre for sitting the TEF IRN.

Sessions take place at our centre at 4 rue Fredo Krumnov, 68200 Mulhouse.

Why sit the TEF IRN?

Nationality

Obtain French nationality and validate level B2
(400 to 499 points on the TEF)

Resident Card

Obtain a 10-year resident card and validate level B1
(300 to 399 points on the TEF)

Multi-year Card

Obtain a 4-year residence permit and validate level A2
(200 to 299 points on the TEF)

Integration

Validate level A1 as part of the Republican Integration Contract
(100 to 199 points on the TEF)

Prerequisites (IMPORTANT!)
Be able to read and write in French.
Be able to use a computer and a French keyboard (exams are on computer, no paper version).

Single rate: €145 regardless of the procedure.

Exam format — total duration: approximately 2h30
Listening comprehension — 40 min, 60 questions (MCQ)
Reading comprehension — 60 min, 50 questions (MCQ)
Spoken expression — 15 min, 2 topics (interview with examiner)
Written expression — 60 min, 2 topics (writing)

Results
Results are sent by email by CCI Paris Île-de-France within a few days to 1 week.

The results certificate is valid for 2 years. The digital certificate is recognised and accepted by Préfectures.

Resitting or cancelling the test
The minimum interval between 2 test sittings is 1 month.

In case of cancellation before the test day or absence on the test day for major reasons (illness, professional impediment, death of a relative...), you must present a supporting document to the centre (medical certificate, employer's letter...).

In case of unjustified absence or withdrawal, you will not be refunded. You accept these conditions by electronically submitting the registration form to the centre.
