AFNOR Engagé RSE Label

We chose the AFNOR Certification Engagé RSE label to affirm our contribution to sustainable development.

The RSE label is highly demanding: over 50 criteria are examined in accordance with the voluntary ISO 26000 standard and the Sustainable Development Goals. It is awarded following an on-site evaluation. We provided an independent assessor with objective evidence that we manage the social, environmental and economic impacts of our activities. Employee representatives at every level of our organisation were interviewed, as were external stakeholders. We were then challenged to drive further improvement, since a reassessment takes place within 18 months of the initial award.

This label signals the comprehensiveness and coherence of our continuous improvement approach. It also demonstrates that we have identified our stakeholders and established a dialogue with them to understand and respond to their expectations.

In June 2021, this label received international recognition through “Responsibility Europe”, of which the Engagé RSE Label is one of three European partners.

Our climate actions

Nos Gestes Climat is a free, public online calculator that allows you to measure your individual carbon and water footprints in just 10 minutes. By answering simple questions about your lifestyle (food, transport, housing…), you receive a precise assessment of your environmental impact and a personalised action plan to reduce it.

The tool has already been used by nearly 2.5 million people in France — how about you?

Linguaphone has always sought to integrate environmental, social, economic and ethical issues into its activities, formalising this in 2013 by signing the CSR Charter for Training Professionals, the CPF code of ethics and the Linguaphone Responsible Procurement Charter.

Linguaphone also strives to promote these values within its sphere of influence by communicating them to all stakeholders: staff, clients and suppliers. For daily office life, we follow the guidelines in ADEME’s eco-responsible office guide.

Linguaphone supports

Linguaphone supports the Global Compact and renews its commitment to the initiative and its 10 principles.

Recognising that the ten principles of the United Nations Global Compact — concerning human rights, international labour standards, environmental protection and anti-corruption — are an integral part of our development policy, we have formally integrated them into our strategy, culture and daily operations.

The 2024 edition of our COP (Communication on Progress) is available here.

Linguaphone supports the association “Les Amis du père Pedro” which raises funds for the Akamasoa association in Madagascar.

In 2021, Linguaphone partnered with the association Juste 2.0°C for their “Antarctique 2.0°C” expedition. This association implements projects combining scientific research, awareness-raising and community action to highlight the effects of climate change.

Our CSR commitments

Our profession, language teaching, naturally involves teams from diverse origins, cultures and faiths who have worked together for over 50 years. We have 75% international staff from more than 36 countries of origin. We have turned this diversity into a core part of our identity.

The average tenure of our trainers is 10 years, and that of our administrative teams likewise, attesting to harmonious collaboration.

At Linguaphone, gender balance is reversed: we have more women than men on our teams, and we take active steps to achieve equilibrium.

We consider it our social responsibility to support young people and their education, regularly recruiting apprentices and trainees whom we mentor throughout their experience with us.

Our workforce is well balanced in terms of age, enabling senior staff to continue practising and passing on their expertise.

Our CSR commitments — Environment and ethics

The vast majority of our trainers travel by public transport. All our courses are also available remotely via video conference, for both group and individual sessions.

We have built an LMS platform that stores all teaching and administrative documents and makes them accessible to stakeholders, thereby reducing printing.

Internally, our documents are stored in the cloud, avoiding printing and enabling sharing.

Our teams are also equipped with video conferencing tools, allowing internal meetings without travel. We offer this option to our clients when organising meetings as well.

Our accounts are audited annually by an external chartered accountant. Employee remuneration is fixed and annualised, preventing any risk of corruption.

Finally, Linguaphone has never been the subject of any conviction.
