How can I check my CPF entitlement balance?

Log in to moncompteformation.gouv.fr with your French national insurance number. The balance displayed corresponds to entitlements accrued since 2015 (former DIF rights integrated until 30 June 2021), increased by €500 per full-time year worked, up to a ceiling of €5,000.

How are CPF entitlements credited each year?

CPF entitlements are credited automatically in the first half of the year following the year worked (for example, 2025 entitlements are credited in spring 2026). For full-time employment: €500 per year, capped at €5,000. For low-qualified employees (no level 3 diploma), the credit is increased to €800 per year up to €8,000. Part-time employment above 50% qualifies for the same €500.

Can I use my CPF to learn a foreign language?

Yes, provided the course is certifying and listed in the Répertoire Spécifique (RS) of France Compétences. Linguaphone offers pathways in English, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, Chinese and French as a Foreign Language leading to eligible certifications: Linguaskill, TOEIC, TOEFL, Bright, BULATS, Goethe, DELE, CELI, TEF, DCL. Without certification, the course cannot be CPF-funded.

What is the CPF cap for language training in 2026?

Following the decree of 26 February 2026, CPF funding for language training is capped at €1,500 per course. This cap covers both teaching hours and the certification fee. Anything above is paid out of pocket or can be covered by your employer (top-up) or by an OPCO.

Is there a personal contribution to pay when using my CPF?

Yes. A mandatory contribution of €150 applies to each CPF course (except for jobseekers and courses co-funded by the employer). This amount is paid at enrolment on Mon Compte Formation. Good to know: if your employer tops up your CPF via the EDEF platform, the personal contribution can be covered at 100%.

Do my CPF entitlements expire if I don't use them?

Accepted Answer

No, CPF entitlements do not expire as long as you remain professionally active. They are preserved throughout your career, including during job changes, periods of unemployment or transitions from salaried to self-employed status. They are only lost upon retirement (except in cases of combined employment and retirement).
