Artificial intelligence designed by Linguaphone

EvalIA The AI that assesses your learners and gets them talking.

EvalIA measures each learner's level through a conversation, then gets them speaking in the situations of their job, at their own pace and whenever suits them, between two lessons with their trainer.

At a glance

Three roles, in support of the trainer

01

Assess

A diagnostic that feels like a conversation: EvalIA places the learner's level, understands their professional needs and builds a pathway from them.

02

Get learners practising

Between lessons, whenever suits them, EvalIA gets the learner talking: pronunciation, role plays, scenarios drawn from their job.

03

Prepare the lesson

EvalIA does not replace the trainer. It prepares the learner so that every session is spent practising, and what they learn truly sticks.

The diagnostic

A conversation rather than an exam

The diagnostic takes 10 to 20 minutes. EvalIA adjusts its questions to the level it perceives. If the learner is comfortable, it moves on to role plays. If they are a beginner, it asks them to spell their name or list the days of the week, to find their level without putting them on the spot. If they struggle too much, it comes down to their level and can switch back to their native language.

As accurate as a trainer, and more consistent

We compared EvalIA's diagnostics with those of our trainers: they almost always reach the same levels. But two trainers may assess the same person differently, whereas EvalIA always applies the same yardstick.

  1. 1

    The learner gets set up

They receive an email, land in their space, check their microphone and choose the voice they prefer: British or American accent, calm or normal pace.

  2. 2

    EvalIA gets to know them

It asks about their role and how they use the language day to day. If a word escapes them, they can say it in their native language.

  3. 3

    Read, write, understand

A reading exercise checks pronunciation, followed by a writing exercise and a reading comprehension exercise.

  4. 4

    A result you can use

A level for each of the four skills, placed precisely on the CEFR (A0, A1.1, A1.2…), the learner's needs (meetings, presentations, phone calls, situations specific to their job) and the objectives of their pathway.

Practice

Practice that adapts to every learner

Learners talk to EvalIA as they would to a person: it listens, answers and follows up. And because it is an AI, everything adjusts to the learner: when, for how long, the voice, the pace, the skills and the vocabulary they work on. As EvalIA says when it introduces itself: “We'll take this at your pace.”

Whenever the learner wants, for as long as they want

There is no slot to book: a session starts in an instant, early in the morning, between two meetings or in the evening, and lasts a few minutes or much longer. Learners stop whenever they like, and EvalIA remembers what they have worked on.

The learner chooses what to work on

Listening or speaking, reading or writing, pronunciation, the vocabulary of their sector, meetings, presentations, negotiation or phone calls: learners can switch topics from one session to the next and work on something new as soon as they need to. Tailoring is not only about content: it also covers format and pace.

The voice and pace that suit them

Learners choose a British or American accent and a calm or normal pace, and can change them at any time in their settings. They can press a button to speak, like a walkie-talkie, and take time to hesitate without being interrupted, or switch to hands-free mode for a quick back-and-forth. We value that button, both for learners’ ease and for accessibility.

Moving between languages

EvalIA understands up to eighty spoken languages and speaks around forty, including every language we teach. When the learner switches back to their native language, it records a gap, which it will then work on.

Making yourself understood, not imitating an accent

EvalIA scores the pronunciation of words but never penalises the accent. We are not after a perfect accent: we want the learner to be intelligible. That is essential for their self-confidence.

Role plays close to real work

EvalIA plays a colleague, a customer or a manager, sometimes several at once, with a range of voices and accents. Learners can also describe their own situation, for example: “Tomorrow I have a meeting, I need to practise and I need your help.” Everything stays within the frameworks built by our teaching teams.

The pathway

A guided path, with a trainer

Put a learner in front of too many resources and you lose them. We prefer to guide them along a path where they can see their progress. Every lesson follows the same structure (introduction, practice, review, key takeaways) and ends with a score.

01

A clear dashboard

Learners find their next lesson, their bookings and their pathway: meetings, presentations, phone calls, the language of their sector. Lessons stay available for further practice.

02

A kick-off lesson

The trainer helps the learner get to grips with the dashboard, checks that the pathway matches their needs and agrees with them on what success looks like.

03

Lessons that are easy to book

Learners choose from preselected trainers introduced by a short CV, by video or phone, as a one-off or recurring slot, added straight to their calendar.

Follow-up

Follow-up that lets us react

Our follow-up lets us spot drops in engagement quickly, rather than at the end of the course. A dedicated application detects the weak signals: a learner who does not start, who can no longer keep up their pace, who neglects part of their pathway. Our follow-up team then takes over: it contacts the learner to understand and find a solution, and escalates to the training manager when needed. Every exchange is documented and traceable.

For the learner

They see their results, their progress and the path still ahead. Seeing their score matters a great deal for their confidence, and so for their engagement.

For the training manager and HR

Learner progress, attendance and points needing attention, within their own scope, so they can act at the right time rather than find out afterwards.

For senior management

A consolidated view that helps decide which formats to use. Everyone sees only what concerns them: an entity, a division or the whole organisation, following the structure you define.

Trust

Accessibility and data

Protected data

Hosted in the European Union and processed in line with GDPR, including the right to be forgotten.

An accessible platform

An accessibility button, and a platform that meets the French RGAA accessibility standard, level A.

Learner settings

Everyone sets their own preferences, such as EvalIA's voice and pace.
