The TOEIC® 4 Skills test

This TOEIC^® Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing test is eligible under the Personal Training Account (CPF) scheme. It is designed to assess essential language skills in professional life.

The 4 papers

Listening

The Listening section tests comprehension of spoken English.
45 questions · 25 minutes

Speaking

Candidates record their answers to questions designed to measure their ability to express themselves orally.
20 minutes

Reading

The Reading section assesses comprehension of written English.
45 questions · 37 minutes

Writing

Candidates write responses designed to measure various aspects of their writing ability.
60 minutes

Total duration: 2h22

Results
The Listening and Reading sections are scored from 5 to 495 points each (total of 10 to 990 points).
The Speaking and Writing sections are scored from 0 to 200 points each.
Each result is correlated with the CEFR, from level A1 to level C1.
Validity of results: 2 years.

The Listening & Reading test is also available for non-CPF funded training.
For any CPF-funded training, sitting the certification is mandatory.

Reference scores
400 points — basic secretarial work: reception, routine correspondence, handling simple phone calls.
600 points — participating in meetings and occasional speaking.
850 points — negotiating contracts with non-native English speakers.
900 points — negotiating fluently with native English speakers.

Organisation

This training lasts 30 hours and can be completed:

Intensively over 1 week at 6 hours of work per day
Extensively over 1 month at 6 hours per week
